What Exciting Things are Going to Happen To Us?
In one of the stories in E.E. Milne’s classic children’s book, “Winnie the Pooh,” there is a scene where Pooh and Piglet take an evening walk. For a long time they walk in silence. It is a silence like that which only best friends can share. Finally Piglet breaks the silence and asks, "When you wake up in the morning, Pooh, what's the first thing you say to yourself?" "What's for breakfast?" answers Pooh who then asks. "And what do you say, Piglet?"  Piglet responds, "I say, I wonder what exciting thing is going to happen today?"
That spirit of openness and excitement about new beginnings is how I want to end this academic year and my own time as chaplain at St. Ambrose University. It is also how I hope our graduates will approach the new chapter they are about to make as they go forth from St. Ambrose on Saturday.  What exciting things will happen? We can’t really know. But we can be sure of this: the same Ever Loving God who has been with us on the journey through St. Ambrose, present in a caring community of learners and walking with us through classmates, coworkers and friends will always be near. Perhaps in our shared memories. Perhaps in our silent reflections. We never really know when or where God is going to show up in our lives. But we can be sure of this, God will show up. God does walk with us. And we can be sure of that if we have an attitude of openness that asks, "I wonder what exciting thing is going to happen today?" And in that Spirit of openness to God and to each other, and in the life-long pursuit of faith learning justice, God forever holds us together as Ambrosians.
God’s blessings on all graduates and all who conclude their time at St. Ambrose University. Prayers for a restful and safe summer to all.  ---Fr. Chuck

•Farewell Reception for Fr. Chuck Adam
The SAU community is invited to a reception following this Sunday’s 10:30 am mass in Christ the King Chapel. Join us Sunday May 7 from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm in the Chapel Gathering Space. Although Fr. Chuck will be on campus through June, the reception provides a farewell opportunity before students and others leave campus for summer.  All are welcome.

•Commencement Mass May 13
Graduates and their families are invited to begin Commencement Day by celebrating Mass at Christ the King Chapel at 9 am on Saturday, May 13. The Most Reverend Bishop Martin Amos of Davenport will be the celebrant for the liturgy and Fr. Chuck Adam will deliver the homily The Mass will conclude in time for families to enjoy the Brunch in Rogalski Center.  People of all faiths are welcome at this service of thanksgiving and blessing.  Learn more about everything happening for Spring Commencement on the SAU webpage.

•Summer Mass Schedule
This Sunday, May 7 will be the last regular weekend with 10:30am/6:30pm masses on Sunday. The last daily mass is Tuesday, May 9 at 9pm.  Beginning on Sunday, May 14 we will offer Sunday mass in the chapel at 10:30am every weekend until June 25 (except May 28, due to Memorial Day).  No 6:30pm Sunday or daily masses are offered during the summer, and there will be no regular masses from June 26 through August 12.  10:30am Sunday masses resume again on August 13.  Have a great summer!

•Tuesday, May 9 - Last Weekday Mass at 9 pm and Midnight Breakfast at 10 pm
Bring your friends, bring your floor, or bring your team!  All are welcome at the last daily Mass of the semester on Tuesday, May 9 at 9pm in the Grotto (rain location: Chapel). A blessing will be offered for all who will be graduating. We will conclude in plenty of time to get in line for Midnight Breakfast in the Cosgrove Cafeteria which begins at 10pm.

•Thank You from Campus Ministry
We would like to express our thanks and great appreciation for all of the gifts and talents our students, faculty, and staff have shared through campus ministry this year. The list is too long to mention everyone but we would especially like to acknowledge: Peer Campus Ministers; Ambrosians for Peace and Justice; Service on Saturdays; Antioch retreat leaders; New Student and Bee-Leaving retreat leaders; Bridge Bible Fellowship leaders; Poppin Topics organizers; Bee’s Knees prayer members; Mass and More volunteers; and all of our liturgical ministers: Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors, Sacristans, Altar Servers, and Music Ministers. THANK YOU!

•Rice Bowls
THANK YOU to everyone who contributed to the Rice Bowl collection from your sacrifices this past Lenten season.  Once again, SAU gave generously, and we have sent $1,000 to Catholic Relief Services to combat hunger around the world!

•New Student Orientation Masses
A simple 8 am mass will be offered in the Chapel to begin the orientation days on June 2, 6, 9, 13, and 16.

•Student Emergency Fund
Thanks to an effort several years ago  from the Student Alumni Association, a fund was developed to help students with emergency needs. The fund has helped students who have experienced devastating fires, family emergencies, and serious family situation.  If you would like to contribute to the fund, simply send monies to “Student Emergency Fund” through campus mail.
