During this Homecoming weekend the St Ambrose campus will be swarming with alumni who have returned to the hive that they affectionately called “home” for several years. While they are here they will reconnect with special roommates, teammates, classmates and friends. It’s a wonderful time for reminiscing and re-telling the stories that bind our Ambrosian family together. Those of us who work or live here now welcome our alumni with open arms and a warm embrace.
We enjoy hearing the stories of the past and are excited about the plans for the future. We stand on the shoulders of many great visionary leaders and are appreciative of those who have paved the way and opened the doors that allow us to experience St Ambrose University as our home too.
Home is where we are comfortable being ourselves. Home is where we are loved and accepted for who we are. Home is where we learn to sacrifice, to compromise, to give and accept forgiveness, to listen, to speak up, and to discover our gifts and talents and our purpose in this world. Home is where we are challenged to grow, to get back up after we have fallen and keep on trying. Home is where we laugh, we cry, we work, we play, we sleep, we eat, and we pray.
May God bless St Ambrose University and all who call it home. May Jesus Christ always be here among us, may he nurture our love for each other, share in our joys, and comfort us in our sorrows. May our home be a place of welcome, generosity, hope, creativity and kindness.
