Campus Ministry Reflections
Welcome to spring semester 2021! In the Catholic Church we are now in the season of ordinary time. By ordinary time, we don’t mean plain or un-exciting or boring. Ordinary time in the church is the time in between the big seasons of Advent/Christmas and Lent/Easter. During this time we hear the stories of Jesus’ daily life, the miracles he performed, the parables he told, and the calling of the Twelve Apostles. The liturgical color for this ordinary time is green symbolizing that ordinary time is a time of growth. The use of the word “ordinary” as a season in the church means that we are “ordering” our days. There’s a rhythm in the days and weeks. This rhythm isn’t a time to be complacent or lazy. It is a time to learn and grow and develop new habits that can transform our lives.
While this past year has seemed anything but ordinary, I hope that our experiences during the pandemic, the divisive presidential election and the Black Lives Matter movement, have transformed us and made us more aware of the needs of the poor and vulnerable and the importance of education, prayer and action. As a St. Ambrose community, let’s commit daily to helping one another pray, grow, learn, and act with justice.-- Tammy
Student Involvement at Mass We are always looking for more students who are interested in getting involved at Mass! If you are interested in being trained as a lector, Eucharistic Minister, or to livestream the 10:30 am Mass, please contact Claire McCarthy (mccarthyclairem@sau.edu).
Music Ministry Update: We are able to have one cantor at Masses this semester! If you are interested in cantoring or playing piano or guitar at Mass, contact Lauren Bollweg (bollweglaurenr@sau.edu). All are invited to weekly Music Ministry meetings on Thursdays at 7:00 pm!
Attending Mass this Semester In a continued effort to help keep our campus safe, we'd like to remind you of the guidelines to follow while attending Mass at Christ the King Chapel. We look forward to safely worshipping with the St. Ambrose community again this semester!
This week, Fr. Thom and Meg reflect on nearly a year of living in a global pandemic, the capitol insurrection, and president-elect Biden's upcoming inauguration.
You can now listen on Spotify, SoundCloud, Google Playlists, or iTunes!
