Campus Ministry Reflections

As we near the end of October, I find myself wishing for time to speed up - can it just be November 4th already? Election season is exhausting, and these next few days will surely be full of aggressive advertisements, heated conversations, and anxious waiting.

Here are some ways I’ll be trying to stay sane during the next week:

  1. Get some sleep. It’s always important to rest, but even more so now. Emotions are at the forefront of many conversations, and it’s easy to allow the tension of the election to take over our interactions when energy levels are running on empty.

  2. Vote. One of the most important responsibilities we have as Americans is to be a part of the conversations happening within our country, and voting requires having an informed voice within those conversations.

  3. Pray. As candidates become demonized, we can lose sight of where our faith is in all of this. Remember that Jesus Christ died out of love for not only you and me, but also for Donald Trump and Joe Biden. Jesus loves the person you disagree with; allow Jesus to use this election to teach you to love your neighbor as he does.

Take a deep breath, do all things in love, and vote! -- Lauren
